Our Story

The Robersons began their journey in 2012 when founder Desmond J. Roberson started recording his first solo project. Wanting to include his young children on one song, Desmond, alongside his wife Tammy and producer the late Mark G, created what became the family's first local hit, "Jesus Loves Me." While the song was well received, it would be several years before the family officially became a recording group. Before the formation of The Robersons, Desmond, Tammy, and Desmond's brother Michael performed together as DMT (Desmond, Michael & Tammy). When DMT was unable to fulfill a performance, the Roberson children stepped in to take their place. The audience's overwhelming response revealed something special. After DMT disbanded, Desmond and Tammy began intentionally developing their children musically and on stage. That decision led to the birth of Desmond Roberson & The Roberson Bunch, now known as The Robersons.Led by Desmond and Tammy Roberson, the family ministry has earned recognition throughout gospel music. Their debut single, "Strength," received five Rhythm of Gospel Award nominations, winning two awards. Their debut album, Here's the Story, charted at No. 63 on the iTunes Top 200 Gospel Albums and earned the family the cover of The Front Porch Magazine.Since then, The Robersons have continued to build an impressive résumé. They won the Swanee Quintet Annual Showcase in 2021, Best Performance at the Ecclesia Showcase in Memphis in 2022, and became the first-ever New Artist of the Year at the Quartet Music Awards. The group has appeared on The Bobby Jones Show, shared the stage with artists including Dorinda Clark-Cole, The Canton Spirituals, and Tamela Mann, and has ministered on many of gospel quartet's premier stages across the country.Their sophomore album, Growing Pains, debuted in the Top 20 of the iTunes Gospel Albums Chart, introducing audiences to songs such as "Pass Me Not II," "I Thank Ya," and "Just As I Am."Today, The Robersons continue to share a message of faith, family, and hope through music that bridges generations. As they enter this new chapter under their new name, their mission remains unchanged: to encourage people, glorify God, and create music that leaves a lasting impact.
